We’ve Got Answers!

What Do I Bring To Class?
  • A face mask for yourself. Masks are also sold at the school if you do not have one
  • Reinforcements in the form of small and yummy treats, and your dog’s favorite toy
  • Regular 6 foot leash (no zip leashes please)
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Indoor shoes if it’s wet/muddy out
  • Optional: a blanket/bed for your dog to relax on  in between exercises

All classes are done on a flat (regular) buckle collar, a martingale, a harness or a gentle leader.

Who Can I Bring To Class? Kids? Friends?

We currently encourage folks to come solo to the class.

Due to current restrictions, a maximum of 2 adults per household can attend with their dog.

Can My Dog and I Come Visit The School Before We Sign Up?
If you are interested in what our classes and instructors are like and want to see a class in progress, we can arrange this with you. The only exception is our Reactive Rover class, due to the nature of the class.

Due to the current restrictions, please make an appointment with our admin if you would like to visit our school.

If you are looking to give your dog the opportunity to see and experience our facility, we would recommend arranging a visit by email when there are no classes going on so that you and they can see the training hall.

Can I Enroll Two Dogs In The Same Class?

Yes. This is not a problem. We require one adult handler per dog. Preferably, each dog will work with the same handler each week.

My Dog Is Going In To Heat. Can We Still Attend Class?

If your dog is attending our Reactive Rover, we ask that dogs in heat do not attend, since both of these groups of dogs may find it difficult to concentrate. For any other class, please contact us and we will make a recommendation on a case-by-case basis.

I'm Expecting A Puppy Soon. How Do I Save A Spot in Puppy Kindergarten?

Our Puppy Kindergarten classes are START ANYTIME, so if you know what day you’ll be getting your dog, you can sign up to start the following week. Simply choose the day of your preference (ie. Mondays at 6pm), then select which date you wish to begin (i.e June 6th). If circumstances change, it is easy to email us and shift your start date.

We offer in-person puppy classes and online puppy classes.

My Vet Says To Wait For Vaccinations Before Socializing. What Do I Do?

“While veterinarians are appropriately concerned about infectious disease in young puppies, the fact is that behavioral issues—not infectious diseases—are the number one cause of death for dogs under 3 years of age, according to the AVSAB.”  This statement comes directly from the American Veterinary Medical Association’s website.

By the time puppies are fully vaccinated at 4 months of age, the crucial socialization window has already closed. Because of this, we refer to the AVMA’s recommendation of starting puppy class as early as 8 to 9 weeks of age, provided the puppy has already received his first round of vaccinations.

We require proof of vaccination for all puppies coming in to class, and have our facility professionally cleaned twice weekly, as well as being spot cleaned daily by staff. Messes are cleaned up immediately using anti-microbial and anti-viral cleansers.

Because of this we feel that our facility is an appropriate environment for young puppies to begin their exposure to the world. Click here for the (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior) AVSAB’s position statement regarding early puppy socialization.

Do I Get Discounts For Multiple Dogs Or Classes?

We have a Frequent Client Club. Once you have participated in 5 classes, you are eligible for a lifetime discount of 15%. This 5 class count is for your whole household, so each dog you enroll in a class contributes to the count. Two dogs mean you’ll become a frequent client in no time!

What Is Your Refund Policy?

We are dedicated to maintaining small classes with plenty of one-on-one interaction. For that reason, cancellations with less than 5-business day notice from the class start date will not be eligible for a refund. We appreciate your cooperation to help keep our classes small and effective for you. There is a $20 administration fee to process all refunds.

There will be no refunds given if cancellation happens once the class starts.

Special circumstances for cancellation with less than 5-business day notice or once the class starts:

  • If your dog can no longer attend class due to health reasons, a note from your vet will be required for a refund in school credits. Illnesses for dogs include injuries and contagious diseases. It does not include spay/neuter. The request for a refund must be done within five business days of the vet visit. After five business days, we will not honour the request. The amount refunded will be the unused classes minus the $20 administration fee.
