I've had a lifetime of formal and informal training to prepare me to work with dogs and their owners.
Other than reading about, volunteering with and studying dogs in preparation for my current role, I am acertified pet dog trainer and behaviour consultant.
My formal training as teacher and Guidance Counsellor is a blessing when training people to have get the dog they want and deserve. Thanks to my nearly 14 years of experience in the world of Education, first as an elementary, intermediate and high school teacher, then a Guidance Counsellor and later a Vice-Principal, I am at ease working with the most important end of the leash.
My most recent addition is Hemingway (or Hemi), a Great Dane rescued for the Puppy Mill bust near Montreal. Emaciated, yet full of love, Hemi is proof that dogs live in the moment and don't hold grudges. Hemi is now at a healthy weight, and never thinks of his Puppy Mill days.
I also cohabitate with a White Shepherd. He was found roaming the streets, eating from garbages, emaciated but happy-go-lucky nonetheless. Everest has taught me that when you expect more from your dog, you get more.
Everest`s most recent accomplishment is passing the Canine Good Citizen test.
