Small Class

The Ottawa Canine School offers small group classes for dogs (no more than 3 dogs) and owners who would like to learn in a more intimate setting.

Your dog will share the classroom with two other dogs; therefore, you and your dog will get plenty of one-on-one attention from the instructor. Small classes are great for dogs who are easily distracted or overwhelmed by larger groups of people or dogs.

The class content of our small classes is identical to our regular group classes, but you and your dog will graduate faster because of the smaller class setting. Small classes will also allow you to determine whether your dog is ready for the larger group classes (with 6 dogs per class!).

Small classes are only available on weekdays before 6pm.

Basic Good Manners

Basic Good Manners is for dogs who are at least 6 months old and have no formal obedience training.

This class is designed for dogs and owners who want to work on the basic good manners that we all want to see in our pet dogs.  Using the best and latest training strategies, you and your dog will learn these practical skills to help you navigate real life situations:

  • Coming when called
  • Loose leash walking
  • Impulse control exercises
  • Ignoring distractions
  • …  and more!

Classes are limited in size to be able to offer you the best quality of  instruction a group class can  offer. There is no off leash play as the dogs are now learning to focus on you and behave on leash.

Age Requirements: At least 6 months old

Pre-requisite: Your dog must not exhibit fearful or reactive behaviours towards people and dogs. Reactive Rover graduates with your instructor’s approval are welcome. If you’re unsure if your dog would be a good fit for this class, check out our popular Reactive Rover class or contact us with your questions.
